Habitat for Humanity

To build an affordable home Habitat needs to buy land, hire certified trade workers and pay for building supplies. This is how Habitat helps families gain access to affordable home ownership. We build a safe and decent home and provide an interest free mortgage that’s geared to the family’s income. It’s a hand up, not a hand out. The home isn’t free.

Do you have extra building material on your site or in your warehouse? Do you have a building site that is scheduled for demolition? Habitat for Humanity Upper Fraser Valley is in need of used or new building supplies that might otherwise end up in a landfill site. We sell these supplies in our ReStore to raise money for affordable housing. We can send in our team to tear out and remove items from your building site free of charge.

We can:

  • Cut down on your labour costs
  • Save you transportation costs
  • Save you dump fees
  • Keep valuable goods out of our landfills
  • Use donated items to raise money for the construction affordable housing
  • Provide you with CRA tax receipt for the sale value of your items

If you are interested in donating, please contact us as soon as possible to ensure that we can schedule our tear outs and pick-ups in time to meet your deadlines. Tear outs and pick-ups are arranged on a first come first serve basis and generally a week in advance. We may be able to make last minute pick-ups due to cancellations.

Some of the things we are interested in:

  • Kitchen cabinets and appliances
  • Bathroom vanities, low flow toilets, sinks and tubs
  • Light fixtures
  • Doors
  • General building material, tools and hardware

Please contact me prior to making the commitment to donate something so that we can assess whether it is an item we need. We are unable to sell many items and are then forced to dump them ourselves. We are also restricted by consumer demand and availability of space in our store. Sending us images is a quick an easy way for us to make an assessment and helps us save time.

The mission statement of Habitat for Humanity is “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope”.

In Kindness,
